CHOLESTEROL Solution & example
You are suffering from too much of a fatlike material in your blood and you didn’t even know it until your doctor gave you the bad news. The higher the cholesterol level, the greater risk of cardiovascular disease. This is a silent, painless process in which cholesterol – containing fatty deposits accumulate along the walls of the arteries. As the plaque builds up, the artery narrows and this reduces the flow of blood.

Dietary cholesterol is what is contained in the foods we eat. Serum cholesterol is what is in your blood stream and you want to keep that below a reading of 200. HDL (high density lipoprotein) cholesterol is the good part of the cholesterol and it cleans up the arteries. LDL cholesterol is the bad guy and it clogs up the arteries.
  • Watch your body weight because the more overweight you are, the more cholesterol you manufacture.
  • Cut out the saturated fats in your diet.
  • Eat lots of beans as they contain water –soluble fiber called pectin that grabs the cholesterol and throws it out.
  • Eat more fruit, another pectin product.
  • Oat bran has lots of good publicity as a cholesterol fighter but other grains which contain soluble fiber are just as good at the job.
  • Exercise. This raises your level of HDL and LDL.
  • Take garlic capsules- they are excellent in reducing blood fats.
  • Reduce you intake of coffee, cigarettes and other artery narrower and try to relax more. Relaxation has been shown to reduce cholesterol levels.
